RACE 1 –– NORTHERN MIDLANDS COUNCIL MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW) – 1400 METRES

 

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when Stewards wished to view the official video of the start of the race, when it appeared that CHERISH (S Snell) jumped marginally early as a result of the horse anticipating the start and lunging forward.  Stewards did not believe that CHERISH gained any advantage or disadvantage.  Although CHERISH did jump awkwardly as a result Jockey Snell became unbalanced causing the filly to loose several lengths.

 

At approximately the 700 metres MR. TERTIAN (S Brazil) shied and as a result its rider became unbalanced.

 

ALSANDREA (K Boxall (a)) had to be steadied by its rider on the home turn when GRASJAR (K Bandy) shifted in marginally.

 

RACE 2 – LONGFORD COUNTRY CLUB HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW) – 1400 METRES

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when Stewards wished to view the official video of the start of the race.  After viewing the film Stewards were satisfied and correct weight was given.

ORPEN TIME (B McCoull) was unable to muster early speed.

DEVEREAUX (T Atkin) over raced at the 1000 metres and as a result carried MAGYEGO (P Crich) a little wider on the track.

HARVES (S Maskiell) layed in in the home straight.

GALAHAD’S GOLD (K Boxall (a)) layed in in the home straight and as a result had to be steadied off the heels of MOXOON (S Snell).

DEVEREAUX (T Atkin) tired over the concluding stages.  A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 3 – T A BRICKNELL CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES 

BROADWAY STARLIGHT (B McCoull) threw its head in the air at the start.

 

OUR BONNIE LAD (S Snell) became tightened between CZAR RULE (S Maskiell) and WASTED DAZE (K Bandy) at the start.

 

DENON (C Kingston) over raced in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of CZAR RULE (S Maskiell) at approximately the 1000 metres.

 

At the 800 metres BROADWAY STARLIGHT (B McCoull) had to be momentarily steadied when SUPER SCAY (S Hamer (a)) shifted ground in.  Apprentice Hamer was reminded of his obligations when allowing his mount to shift ground in future.

 

OUR BONNIE LAD (S Snell) hung out from the 700 metres until entering the straight.

 

STAR BIZ (S Brazil) hung in rounding the home turn.

 

RACE 4 – GRENVILLE STUD CLASS 4 HANDICAP  – 1800 METRES

 

The start of this race was delayed when STARRED (M Ball (a)) had to be re-saddled then STARRED then proved difficult to load.  TERCENTENARY (T Atkin) was placed in the incorrect barrier and had to be re-placed in the correct stall. 

As the start was affected TERCENTENARY (T Atkin) jumped outward as JACARANDA PARK (K Boxall (a)) shifted in resulting in STARRED (M Ball (a)) being momentarily crowded.

 

MARI CHA (S Maskiell) failed to muster early speed.  Jockey Maskiell stated that he placed the mare under pressure at the 800 metres and the horse failed to respond.  A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

A post race Veterinary examination of JACARANDA PARK (K Boxall (a)) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

 

RACE 5 – INCITEC PIVOT CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

 

SANARELLE (K Boxall (a)) over raced and layed out in the early stages of the event.

 

SILVER LOGIE (C Kingston) slipped behind at the 800 metres.

 

RACE 6 – ELDERS WEBSTER LONGFORD CUP– 1800 METRES

 

Trainer M Trinder (WARPED) advised Stewards that the gelding would be ridden from off the pace rather than leading.

 

BLACK LIGHT (K Boxall (a)) over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

 

Stewards reprimanded Jockey Maskiell (MR BUTTKICKA) under AR 137 (a) for careless riding, in that at approximately the 1700 metres, he allowed his mount to shift ground inwards and as a result tightened BLACK LIGHT (K Boxall (a)) who had to be momentarily steadied.

 

RACE 7 – COUNTRY CLUB RESORT CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

 

LIBERAL LOVER (S Snell) when improving at the 600 metres, carried WALK THE PLANK (T Atkin) a little wider on the track, who was laying in.

 

At approximately the 600 metres MOONLIGHT BELLE (NZ) (S Hamer (a)) became tightened for racing room when racing between GORDON HIGHLANDER (S Maskiell) to his outside and SPRY (B McCoull), who had shifted off the rail.  It was unable to be established whether any one rider was at fault and all riders were reminded of their obligations when allowing their mounts to shift ground.

 

RACE 8 – IMPACT FERTILISERS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

INFAMOUS ANGEL (S Snell) jumped out at the start and bumped SENSATIONAL JACK (K Bandy) who in turn bumped with FREEDOM MIST (C Kingston).

 

BAY ALI (S Maskiell) over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

 

Jockey K Bandy (SENSATIONAL JACK) was found guilty of a charge under AR 137 (a) careless riding in that at approximately the 300 metres, he allowed his mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of INFAMOUS ANGEL (S Snell) resulting in INFAMOUS ANGEL being checked.  Jockey Bandy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for two race meetings in Tasmania from midnight 5th January 2005 until midnight 16th January 2005.

GENERAL

Jockey K Bandy was reprimanded under AR 118 for leaving the vicinity of the Jockeys room.

 

Stable Employee Fiona Daly pleaded guilty under AR 175 (a) improper behaviour, in that in the mounting yard she spoke to Stewards in an improper manner and also her language was unacceptable.  Fiona Daly was fined $100.
