RACE 1 – PATRICK TASMANIA CLASS D HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

PINCHS CHOICE (K Williams (a)) lost ground shortly after the start. Apprentice Kylie Williams was spoken to, as it was clear on jumping she did not have proper purchase on her horse and as a result needed to hang onto the reins in order to steady herself in the saddle thereby causing PINCHS CHOICE to lose ground.

QUIDDITY (P Sarlo) lost ground shortly after the start when being eased by its rider.

GREY CHICK (C Dean) shifted out in the run to the finish and when corrected by its jockey commenced to hang in. Jockey Colin Dean stopped riding at that point and corrected his mount.

RACE 3 – WILLIAM ADAMS/ERN CHITTS BRACELET CLASS D HANDICAP – 2200 METRES

ISLAND QUEST (L Taylor) and RUSSIAN STYLE (T Atkin) were slow into stride.

Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of FLAMIN’ EMBERS, which tired over the concluding stages. In the opinion of the veterinary surgeon FLAMIN’ EMBERS had jarred an old injury in its off fore. Connections advised they would be spelling the horse and on that undertaking Stewards took no further action.

RACE 5 – C J D EQUIPMENT CONSOLATION CLASS D HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

SUNSTAR (K Williams (a)) stood flat-footed at the start. Stewards considered standing SUNSTAR down to a barrier trial, however as the horse had had a good record at the barrier over a long period of time it was felt a large part of the problem today could have been caused by the relative inexperience of Apprentice Jockey K Williams. On that basis Stewards placed a warning only on the barrier manners of SUNSTAR.

RACE 6 – PATRICK SHIPPING CLASS B HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

PARRAWEE (S Brazil) proved fractious at the barrier, delaying the start by approximately a minute.

Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of PORKY PIE, which lost ground over the concluding stages. This revealed no obvious abnormality, however connections advised that it was their intention to retire PORKY PIE and it would not race again.

RACE 7 – DOWLING McCARTHY TYRES CLASS A HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

The start was delayed when ARCTIC EVENING (S Brazil) was leaning against the side of the barrier and would not stand up.

Stewards reprimanded Jockey Troy Atkin (BRILLIANT DESIRE) for losing his whip in the front straight.
