RACE 2 - JIMMY’S LIQUOR MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 METRES - 9 RUNNERS

AMELINDA was a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8.30 a.m. after receiving a call from trainer Mr Mark Ganderton who stated that he had tried to make contact with both the Tasmanian Turf Club and the Deloraine Turf Club prior to 8.00 am in order to scratch his horse but was unable to make contact with any person at either Club. Following this a message was relayed to TOTE control at 9.00 a.m. to advise that the first emergency LADY RUNYON had gained a start in the field. However, it was established at approximately 12.45 p.m. that TOTE control did not have AMELINDA as a scratching and neither did they have LADY RUNYON as a starter. It was also established that on-course Bookmakers had AMELINDA as a scratching and the majority had priced up on LADY RUNYON. In the circumstances Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of both horses. LADY RUNYON was a late scratching at 12.52 p.m. As LADY RUNYON was quoted at 14-1 at the time of scratching, Stewards ordered a refund on all bets struck prior to 12.52 p.m. and a deduction of 6c in the win and 6c in the place. Stewards ordered a refund on all bets struck on AMELINDA with no further deductions. After inquiring into this report it became apparent that there had been a breakdown in communications in relation to this matter.
