RACE 1 –  XEROX COPIERS MAIDEN PLATE – DIVISION 1 – 3YO & UPWARDS – SET WEIGHTS 1100 METRES

The Club’s veterinary surgeon inspected STEEL EAGLE (R Bradley) at the barriers and passed the filly fit to take its place in the field.

At the start, CHERISH (J Borrett) jumped outwards as STEEL EAGLE (R Bradley) jumped in, resulting in GARLAND GREY (K Bandy) being crowded for room.

Also at the start, TARBO (T Atkin) jumped in and brushed with ALIZACK (L Goodrick).

Shortly after the start, when crossing wide on the track, AFFAIR DE JOUR (S Maskiell) had to be steadied off the heels of ALIZACK (L Goodrick).  Jockey Goodrick was reminded of her obligations in that she must ensure that she is fully clear before attempting to cross other runners.

TARBO (T Atkin) had to be steadied passing the 500 metres when racing in restricted room between PERPINKQUITY (C Kingston) and AFFAIR DE JOUR (S Maskiell) to its outside.  Jockey Atkin explained that he felt his mount was reluctant to maintained its position in this tight run, therefore Stewards advised all riders of their obligations.

AFFAIR DE JOUR (S Maskiell) was held up for a run upon entering the home straight.

RACE 2 – XEROX COPIERS MAIDEN PLATE – DIVISION 2 – 3YO & UPWARDS – SET WEIGHTS 1100 METRES

At the start, DUCHESS OF MARL (K Dodge) shifted ground inwards and brushed with BELLE DA MOUR (D Oakford), which in turn shifted in abruptly away from DUCHESS OF MARL.

NIMIRUM (R Bradley) was slow to muster early speed.

Shortly after the start, ARTRACH (S Hamer (a)) shifted in and brushed with DUCHESS OF MARL (K Dodge).

SONANDO (P Michaelides) over-raced near the 600 metres.

Jockey J Cameron, the rider of STRIKE THROUGH, had to momentarily ease her mount near the 450 metres when BELLE DA MOUR (D Oakford) racing to its inside, shifted ground outwards.  Stewards issued Jockey D Oakford, the rider of BELLE DA MOUR, with a reprimand under AR-137 (a) careless riding.

HIGH CHICAWAR (C Kingston) was inclined to hang in in the home straight.

RACE 3 XEROX PRINTERS 2YO SUPERVOBIS MAIDEN PLATE – DIVISION 1 – 1200 METRES

On jumping, KING WALKER (D Pires) which had jumped awkwardly, shifted in, blundered and in doing so bumped with APRILIA (B McCoull) to its inside.

Shortly after the start, TASMAID (R Bradley) shifted ground outwards and bumped with SIMPLY PERFECT (D Oakford) on two occasions.

APRILIA (B McCoull) and KING WALKER (D Pires) brushed near the 450 metres.

REGAL WEASEL (T Atkin) hung in for some distance upon entering the home straight resulting in Jockey Atkin being unable to ride his mount out fully.

FRIAR FRANK (P Michaelides) laid in and then out again between the 200 metres and the 100 metres.

RACE 4 – XEROX PRINTERS 2YO SUPERVOBIS MAIDEN PLATE – DIVISION 2 – 1200 METRES

The Club’s veterinary surgeon inspected BE PREPARED (Trainer Royston Carr) prior to the start and passed the filly fit to take its place IN the field.

SUPER CLAUSE (P Michaelides) stood flat-footed at the start and then tailed the field throughout.  When questioned, Jockey Michaelides reported that after being slow into stride, he felt the filly was reluctant to stride out and he felt that at this point in the race it was in his best interests to remain closer to the inside rail in an attempt to be positioned mid-field when the runners to his outside crossed back in towards the rail.  However, SUPER CLAUSE tailed the field and remained uncompetitive throughout the race.  A post‑race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Trainer R Worbey will be advised that SUPER CLAUSE must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Just prior to entering the home straight, TED’S MEMORY (D Pires) was momentarily inconvenienced and as a result held up for a run behind GENERAL McALLISTER (S Maskiell) when that gelding shifted ground outwards.  Upon inquiry it was revealed that GENERAL McALLISTER had hung out despite the efforts of its rider, therefore, Stewards took no action against any one rider.

JOSIES DOUBLE (S Brazil) was held up for a clear run behind GENERAL McALLISTER (S Maskiell) on the home turn.

Jockey J Borrett reported that SALVATION JANE was inclined to lay in in the home straight.

TED’S MEMORY (D Pires) hung in in the home straight resulting in the rider not being able to fully ride his mount out to the finish.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race XIAO LI (Trainer Gary White).

RACE 5 – XEROX SHOP CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

STRATHMORE LUCK (D Pires) over-raced in the early stages.

Approaching 150 metres, the tiring STRATHMORE LUCK was inconvenienced when AXEZEWANG (B McCoull) to its outside, shifted ground inwards.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race MORSONIQUE (Trainer John Blacker).

RACE 6 –  XEROX TOTAL SOLUTIONS MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE SET WEIGHTS – 1600 METRES

Apprentice B Bamford was reprimanded under AR-175 (k) for negligence, in that he accepted a ride on BILL’S REWARD in this race without checking with his Master to see if he had another engagement.  This resulted in him being declared as the rider of LADATAC as well as BILL’S REWARD.

The announcement of correct weight was delayed when Jockey K Moore, the rider of the second placegetter OUR BOY GEORGE, wished to view the official video patrol film.  After viewing the film, Jockey Moore advised that he wished to lodge a protest against DARK EMBRACE (J Cameron) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference over the last 200 metres.  After considering evidence from all the parties concerned and viewing the official Stewards’ patrol films and acting on their own observations, the protest was dismissed as the material extent of the interference did not exceed the margin at the end of the race.  Stewards ordered the Judge’s placings to stand and correct weight was declared.  Upon inquiry, Jockey Cameron pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR-137 (a) in that from the 200 metres she had allowed her mount (DARK EMBRACE) to shift in.  When passing the 100 metre mark, OUR BOY GEORGE was subsequently taken in and eventually had to be checked by its rider over her horse’s heels.  Jockey Cameron’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two race meetings in Tasmania to begin midnight 19 June 2005 and to expire at midnight on 3 July 2005.

At the start, YOULSEE (C Kingston) was slow into stride.

On entering the home straight, OUR BOY GEORGE (K Moore) was held up behind runners in front for a number of strides.

A post-race veterinary inspection of PERFECT VISTA (Trainer Neil Richardson) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race DARK EMBRACE (Trainer John Lucock).

RACE 7 –  XEROX SHOP HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

SOME CHEER (J Geard (a)) was a little slow to begin.

Apprentice S Hamer (JONES) was fined $25 under AR-144 for failing to weigh in for fifth place.

A post-race veterinary inspection of SOME CHEER (Trainer Terry Roles) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary inspection of ALWAYS SLICK (Trainer Paul E Jones) revealed no obvious abnormalities.  When questioned K Bandy (ALWAYS SLICK) explained that as the mare hangs in during her races, Trainer P Jones felt it would be better to remain close to the rail in the back straight.  However, due to the track conditions she failed to be competitive in today’s race.  Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 8 – XEROX TOTAL SOLUTIONS SUPERVOBIS 3YO CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race MAGGIE BEE (Trainer Charlie Goggin).

RACE 9 -  XEROX PRINTERS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
