Glitzy Guru Bound for Tassie Feature

Trainer Leon Macdonald remains supremely confident about the chances of his consistent mare Glitzy Guru giving him his first success in the AAMI Hobart Cup to be run at Elwick on February 10.

Glitzy Guru was working home strongly at the end of an 1800m race at Flemington last Saturday, after which Macdonald declared the mare was "right on track for the AAMI Hobart Cup".

"This mare needed another run before the AAMI Hobart Cup and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way she finished off her race on Saturday," Macdonald said.

"She won well in Adelaide over 2500m at her previous start and that win convinced me she would be ideally suited to the AAMI Hobart Cup," he said.

Macdonald is in the process of arranging transport to Tasmania for Glitzy Guru and his three-year-old filly Golden Show, who is heading to the Tasmanian Oaks on February 26.

"Golden Show will run in the Strutt Stakes (2100m) on February 8 and remain in the state for the Tasmania Oaks and if all goes to plan Glitzy Guru will also tackle the AAMI Launceston Cup on the same day as the Oaks," he said.
