Due to the heavy track rating. Pacifiers were ordered off all runners.

RACE 1 – RECIPROCAL RIGHTS SUPERVOBIS 2YO MDN PLT (SW) – 1200 METRES

BARLOCHAN (K Bandy), SALVATION JANE (J Cameron) and BEETLE AGOGO (P Michaelides) were all slow into stride.

DUSKY EDITION (G Hodges (a)) raced greenly in the early stages.

IT’S NO WONDER (S Brazil) jumped the crossing near the 800 metres and then blundered, before shifting in and momentarily inconveniencing MISS AMBIGUOUS (K Dodge).

BEETLE AGOGO (P Michaelides) tailed the field and performed poorly.  Jockey Michaelides stated that BEETLE AGOGO, after missing the start, failed to respond to vigorous riding at the 600 metres and dropped out.  A post race Veterinary examination of BEETLE AGOGO (Trainer W McShane) revealed no obvious abnormalities.  Trainer McShane was advised that BEETLE AGOGO must trial satisfactorily prior to this gelding’s next race start. 

DUSKY EDITION (G Hodges (a)) and NONIE’S QUEST (R Hanby) layed in near the 600 metres.

MISS AMBIGUOUS (K Dodge) layed in over the concluding stages and carried LADY THATCHER (D Pires) inwards.

RACE 2 –BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UPSW) – 1100 METRES

The start of this race was delayed for 3 minutes due to the following incidents.

BLACKBOOK (J Borrett) threw itself down on the track en route to the barriers and as a result dislodged Jockey Borrett, the gelding then jumped the outside fence into the carpark, before being recaptured.  Jockey Borrett was examined by the Ambulance Officers and taken to hospital for observation.  Stewards advised Trainer Stubbs that BLACKBOOK must perform a satisfactory barrier trial prior to its next official race start.  A Veterinary examination of BLACKBOOK revealed a small abrasion to the off side stifle.  Jockey Borrett must supply a medical certificate prior to riding trackwork, in races or official barrier trials.

KONA GOLD (J Nevin) dislodged the rider on the way to the barriers, before being recaptured in the mounting yard.  KONA GOLD underwent a Veterinary examination, which revealed a small laceration to the near shoulder.  Jockey Nevin was examined by the Ambulance Officers and passed fit to fulfil his riding engagements. 

BLACKBOOK and KONA GOLD were both declared late scratchings at 12.39pm. All money on BLACKBOOK and KONA GOLD to be refunded, all win and place bets to be paid on face value of tickets less 12c in the dollar for the win and 13c in the dollar for the place.

TERTIAN DELAY (R Hanby) resented being led behind the barriers, reared, fell and dislodged Jockey Hanby.  Jockey Hanby was examined by the Ambulance Officers and declared fit to fulfill her riding engagements.  TERTIAN DELAY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

As the start was affected BLUE TAMBO LADY (B McCoull) jumped in and bumped with JADEICA (T Atkin).

In the home straight, BLUE TAMBO LADY (B McCoull) layed in and brushed with JADEICA (T Atkin) on a number of occasions.

TERTIAN DELAY (R Hanby) failed to handle the heavy track conditions.

Jockey S Maskiell (SERIOUS MONARCH) reported that his horse had a tendency to lay in throughout.

Jockey K Bandy reported AMENITY hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

RACE 3 – SENIOR MEMBERS MAIDEN PLATE (3YO&UP SW) – 1600 METRES

LOUIE MARLANE (D Pires) was slow to muster early speed.

Over the concluding stages AUTUMNI (R Bradley) shifted ground outwards and carried PINTERRY GROSVE (K Bandy) out.

Trainer L Jubb was advised that KINGDOM CLAUSE’s future performances would be monitored after its poor performance today.

RACE 4 – HONARARY MEMBERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (DIV 1) – 1400 METRES

TAINUI STAR (S Hamer (a)) was inconvenienced at the start when FYNDARN FINALE (L Goodrick) shifted ground outwards. As a result TAINUI STAR appeared to clip the heels of FYNDARN FINALE.

Apprentice Terry Wong (AGNELLI) was reprimanded under AR 137 (a) for careless riding in that he allowed AGNELLI to shift ground out under pressure in the home straight on several occasions, and as a result KATE’S FELLOW (B McCoull) had to be steadied off ANGELLI’s heels over the concluding stages.  

FYNDARN FINALE (L Goodrick) and ESCAPE CLAUSE (D Pires) brushed at the 300 metres.

Stewards questioned Trainer K Simpson into the disappointing performance of FILL LIFE WITH JOY.  Trainer Simpson stated that FILL LIFE WITH JOY would be retired.

RACE 5 – SIGN ON NOW CLASS 1 HANDICAP (DIV 2)– 1400 METRES

Stewards delayed correct weight to view the official video of the start to establish whether GRAND ARTIST (M Taylor (a)) had been denied a fair start.  After viewing the official films and acting on their own observations GRAND ARTIST was declared a runner, it was established that as the start was affected ALAMAS (K Dodge) jumped out and bumped heavily with GRAND ARTIST (M Taylor (a)), as a result Apprentice Taylor became unbalanced and was dislodged.  Apprentice Taylor was examined by the Ambulance Officers and taken to hospital for observation.  Apprentice Taylor must supply a medical certificate prior to riding trackwork, in races or official barrier trials. 

FOREVER ROSE  (J Cameron) was very slow into stride and tailed the field thereafter.  A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  Stewards advised Trainer L Dalco that this mare would be stood down to a satisfactory trial.  Trainer Dalco advised Stewards that FOREVER ROSE would be retired in view of today’s performance.

RACE 6 – TTC MEMBERS HANDICAP– 1400 METRES

The start of this race was delayed by 7 minutes due to the Ambulance transferral of Apprentice M Taylor.

BOY BLUE (C Kingston) and LITTLE PORKIES (NZ) (D Oakford) reared on jumping.

A post race Veterinary examination of ME OLD MUKKA (Trainer T Roles) revealed this gelding had sustained a cut tongue and gum.

RACE 7 – R F FERGUSSON CLASS 4 HANDICAP  – 1600 METRES

Near the 900 metres LAKE ST CLAIR (L Goodrick) rolled in and momentarily inconvenienced TRANSCEND (J Geard (a)).

Near the 500 metres LAKE DOUGLAS (C Kingston) shifted in and bumped with SPECTOGRAPH (S Hamer (a)).

Jockey D Oakford (SPRINGFIELD MAN) pleaded guilty under AR 137 A(2)(b) in that he used his whip when out of contention in the home straight.  Jockey Oakford was fined the sum of $100.00.

RACE 8 – TTC LIFE MEMBERS CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1100 METRES

Trainer T Roles was fined the sum of $50.00 under AR140 A for negligence in that he presented DRUM TIME in the saddling enclosure without blinkers.

At the start PETER’S PICK (S Maskiell) jumped inwards and bumped with HERITAGE PORT (B McCoull) who in turn bumped with CELTIC FLING (S Hamer (a)) resulting in that gelding losing ground.

GENERAL

Jockey Dianne Parish contacted Stewards to inform them that she was ill and unable to fulfil her riding obligations.  Jockey Parish was advised that she must tender a Doctor’s certificate prior to riding trackwork, in official trial or race start.

Jockey Stephen Maskiell tendered a Doctor’s certificate certifying him fit to ride.
