Ambulance Officers examined Jockey K Bandy after race 3 and declared him unfit to fulfil his riding engagements for the remainder of the day.

Stewards granted permission for Jockey P Michaelides to be replaced by Jockey T Atkin as the rider of PRINCESS FLYER as Jockey Michaelides failed to arrive on course due to vehicle problems.

Shortly after the start PRINCESS FLYER (T Atkin) threw its head in the air and shifted ground outwards resulting in LADY THATCHER (B McCoull) being taken wider on the track and as a result PRINCESS FLYER lost considerable ground.  Shortly thereafter LADY THATCHER (C Kingston) layed out and brushed with ZUBENELGENUBI (S Hamer (a)).

LADY THATCHER (B McCoull) and PRINCESS FLYER (T Atkin) made the crossing at the 800 metres awkwardly.

Near the 600 metres ZUBENELGENUBI (S Hamer (a)) shifted ground inwards and tightened the racing room of LADY THATCHER (B McCoull), who had MAKEVINA (C Kingston) racing to its inside.  Stewards issued Apprentice Hamer with a severe reprimand under AR 137 (a) for careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear of other runners.

A post race Veterinary examination of PRINCESS FLYER (Trainer W McShane) revealed no obvious abnormalities.
