McEvoy's Day of Mixed Thrills at Bendigo

r7kmcevoy.jpg (8986 bytes)Multiple Group One winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy had what would have to be described as a "mixed grill" in the saddle at Bendigo today.

The SA born and raised hoop was on fire with a winning treble, before chances of a fourth winner "slipped" away.

Aiming for winner number four on the last start hurdle winner Calcavecchia, McEvoy was placed in a tricky situation when his saddle slipped badly in the early to middle stages of the seventh event.

McEvoy lost all chances of being able to control the four-year-old, who managed to finish the race a long way from the action, incredibly still managing to beat another runner home, although being virtually pulled up out of the event.

Earlier the Melbourne Cup winning jockey had partnered the victorious gallopers All of Me, Las Chicas Buenas and Off to Sea.

It's been a big couple of days for McEvoy. Yesterday he partnered the classy Michael Moroney trained Pernod to a comprehensive win in the listed Sir Edward Dunlop Research Foundation Stakes at Caulfield.
