RACE 1: CREEK RUSSELL CRUDELI HANDICAP – 1100M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner NAME THAT TUNE (D. Tourneur). On jumping NAME THAT TUNE threw its head in the air. IMPAIRE (A. Ng) held up momentarily on straightening. MR. SCATMAN (S. Gates) had a tendency to lay inwards over the final 200m.

RACE 2: HOLLYWOOL MAIDEN – 1100M

TICK THE BOX (P. Farrell) (8/1) could not be loaded and was subsequently withdrawn by Stewards at 2.22p.m. All bets made on TICK THE BOX were refunded. Deductions from winning bets were made in accordance with the conditions set out in Betting Rule 19. Trainer Mr G. Sorensen was advised that TICK THE BOX would have to trial twice to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. MR. FLANAGAN (S. Parnham) was slow into stride. CIAPANO (R. Quartermaine) raced ungenerously in the early stages. Near the 500m TAWAN (P. Black) had to steady when close to the heels of SISTER ROSY (W. White). Making the turn into the straight CIAPANO and SISTER WHO (K. Hawkins) bumped. Near the 300m SISTER WHO shifted inwards bumping CIAPANO which in turn bumped DAUBERVAL’S PRAYER (D. Tourneur) and had to be checked. On inquiry Jockey K. Hawkins was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 15 days to commence on midnight 16 October 2002 until midnight 31 October 2002.

RACE 3: COASTAL DAIRIES MAIDEN – 1200M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner CHANTESSA (T. Bajramovic). RARE ALBERT (R. Quartermaine) was fractious in the barrier, prior to the start. WINROBIE (P. Farrell) and SERHEED RED STONE (K. Hawkins) bumped at the start. Racing to the 1800m SERHEED RED STONE rolled outwards bumping RARE ALBERT which in turn bumped BRAESIDE BULLET (S. Parnham). Near the 700m WINROBIE had to steady when close to the heels of COCKY FEATHERS (S. Godden). Passing the 200m GREGAYE (D. Dicks) had to steady when WINROBIE rolled outwards.

RACE 4: SANDY HARRISON JEWELLERS HANDICAP – 1400M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner LATEST SOVEREIGN (A. Armes). LATEST SOVEREIGN proved extremely difficult to load. Trainer Mr H. Williams was advised that LATEST SOVEREIGN would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. At the turn into the straight LATEST SOVEREIGN shifted outwards bumping LITTLE PARTNER (T. Bajramovic).

RACE 5: UNITED FARMERS SPRINT – 1200M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner MAN FROM MEMPHIS (C. Farrell). ZEDAMOSS (R. Quartermaine) threw its head on jumping and then raced wide throughout. SATAN’S HALO (S. Parnham) had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. Jockey R. Quartermain (ZEDAMOSS) was reminded to reframe from using the whip when his mounts are out of contention.

RACE 6: PETERS AND BROWNES HANDICAP – 1200M

HUMA HULA (T. Zanke) and DRURY HILL (S. Gates) bumped at the start. PAGODA PRINCE (R. Quartermaine) jumped awkwardly. ELVIS RULES (C. Itzstein) was held up on straightening until passing the 200m. PELSAERT (D. Tourneur) lay inwards near the 150m and had to straightened by its rider. CYCLONE BEN (P. Farrell) ………………. Trainer Mr G. Sorensen was advised that CYCLONE BEN would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again.
