Gossage To Leave Racing Radio

West Australian-based sports commentator Tim Gossage will not have his contract renewed by Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) when his existing contract expires early next year with radio network ‘Racing Radio'.

Gossage has been hosting Racing Radio's weekday breakfast show for three years and financial constraints have seen RWWA relinquish his services.

"The decision is not a reflection on Tim's performance as host for the past 3 years, but simply RWWA is not in a position to have the Show anchored by the services of a high profile sports presenter in these economic times," said RWWA General Manager Racing Ken Norquay.

"RWWA continues to strive for cost saving measures within the racing and wagering business.

"Tim has been a great supporter of Racing Industry and a key personality at Racing Radio during his 3 years as the Breakfast Show host and will be missed at the station," he added.

Gossage said he was "deeply disappointed" not to be continuing with the station however pledged "to be passionate and professional until my final on air shift" which will be early February.

Gossage is an experienced and versatile performer. Working with Network Ten for over a decade, he has provided commentary for the NBL, AFL and was an integral member of Ten's coverage of the Melbourne Cup Carnival in the late 90's.

He also enjoyed a four year stint on radio with Austereo prior to joining Racing Radio in February 2007.

A replacement in the absence of Gossage has not yet been announced.
