Entries Taken For Perth Cup

Almost 50 nominations were received for the Perth Cup when entries closed this week.

The 2400-metre staying feature has attracted 49 stayers, including an interstate representation spearheaded by three horses from Chris Waller's all-conquering Sydney stable.

Waller has entered Triple Honour, Strike One and Beijing Boy although the latter two are unlikely to make the trip west to join their stablemate who has been campaigning in Perth.

Other interstate entries for the Group Two race include this year's Adelaide Cup winner, the Patrick Payne-trained Capecover.

Leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody has entered Ishant while Fast Future, a placegetter in last month's Canberra Cup, is also nominated.

Local entries are headed by Colour Correct and Impressive Jeuney.

Worth $400,000 in stakes, the Perth Cup will be run at Ascot on New Year's day.

The C B Cox Stakes, a traditional Perth Cup lead-up race run at Group Two level over 2100m on Saturday week, has an entry of 27.
