No Show For Midnight Mustang

Midnight MustangPlans for the Tony Noonan trained Midnight Mustang to race in Saturday's $125,000 Group 3 Western Meatpackers Roma Cup (1200m) have been shelved, with Noonan opting for Heat 3 of the $75,000 All Victorian Sprint Series (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday instead.

The five year old gelding by Val Royal created a huge impression with his last start win in the Listed Straight Six Handicap at Flemington on May 16 and would have been a big draw card for local racegoers.

Continuing conjecture regarding Midnight Mustang gaining a flight across to Perth was incorrect, according to Australia Air Horse Transport spokesman Chris Calthorpe.

"There have been no problems flying horses into Perth over the past few weeks," Calthorpe said.

"A top standard bred and thoroughbred has flown into Perth in the past fortnight and Scenic Blast will be leaving on Tuesday as planned."
