Lights Of Heaven extended her unbeaten record to four by winning the $350,000 Group One Schweppes Australasian Oaks (2008m) at Morphettville.

Settling just forward of midfield one away from the rails, Lights Of Heaven moved into sixth position as the field approached the home bend with early leader Tureen ($501) falling through the field.

Nolen then pushed his way out into the clear to give chase Shylight and Southern Speed at the top of the straight.

Southern Speed ($3.70) was far from disgraced in third place a further three quarter lengths away.

Peter MoodyLuke NolenJeter ($10) and Precious Lorraine ($9) lived up to market expectations in fourth and fifth respectively while Placement ($9) will have to wait for another time to break her maiden status, finishing sixth.

More Awesome To Carry More Weight

{SCPinterestShare href=https://www.virtualformguide.com/racing-news/south-australia/48855-more-awesome-to-carry-more-weight.html layout=standard image=http://www.virtualformguide.com/photos/140311/3More-Awesome18.jpg desc=Thoroughbred Racing SA advise the weight to be carried by More Awesome (#2) in the $115,000 Group 3 The Jansz... size=small}

More AwesomeThoroughbred Racing SA advise the weight to be carried by More Awesome (#2) in the $115,000 Group 3 The Jansz (1200m) at Allan Scott Park Morphettville on Saturday, 26 March 2011 will be 58.0 kg.

The official weight sheet issued by the TRSA Handicapper at 11.00 am on Tuesday, 22 March 2011, declared the allotted weight incorrectly at 56.5 kg.

Following a review of penalties allotted to horses entered for The Jansz, a set weights and penalties race, programmed for Allan Scott Park Morphettville this Saturday, TRSA advises the penalty of 1.5 kg alloted to More Awesome as a consequence of running in the Sportingbet Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic at Allan Scott Park Morphettville on Monday, 14 March 2011 was not consistent with the conditions of the race.

TRSA Stewards ascertained that the penalty of 1.5 kg allotted to More Awesome was consistent with a condition which stated, “the winner of any race of an advertised value of $50,000 or over but less than $100,000 to carry 1.5 kg extra”, rather than the condition which stated, “the winner of any race of the advertised value of $100,000 or over carry 3.0 kg extra”.

It was noted that the Magic Millions Classic was advertised as having a value of $100,000.

In accordance with Rule AR.111A(4), as TRSA Stewards were satisfied the weight initially allotted to More Awesome did not respond to the conditions advertised, the Handicapper was permitted to make the correction.

Peter Moody's Group One haul continued at Morphettville on Saturday when Lights Of Heaven took out the Australasian Oaks.

The filly's success in the 2008m race came less than 24 hours after champion mare Black Caviar stretched her winning record to 11 in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Starting the $2.50 favourite Lights Of Heaven beat Absolutely ($8) by 2-3/4 lengths with Southern Speed (3.70) a neck away third.

Fellow Melbourne trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra had a big day out claiming the other Group One on the program, the Sportingbet Classic (1200m), with Response and the Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m) with Booklet.

Response's win was some compensation for Crystal Lily's second placings to Black Caviar at her past two starts.

Response ($8) beat gallant Sydney mare Beaded ($2.50 fav) by a long neck with Miss Octopussy ($17) a neck away third.

The all-conquering Moody missed out on a Sydney Group One victory with Anacheeva when Jimmy Choux upstaged his Australian rivals in the Rosehill Guineas.

Anacheeva, winner of the Caulfield Guineas in the spring, finished seventh.

Local Conservatorium Eyes Goodwood

Goodwood aspirations for well regarded three-year-old Conservatorium were given a boost when he scored a strong win in the listed Manihi Classic (1200m) at Morphettville today.

In holding out a gallant Dr Doute's to win by three parts of a length, Conservatorium had his trainer Gary Kennewell jumping with excitement in the mounting yard.

The son of influential international sire Royal Academy took up the role of leader early and held that position throughout despite a strong effort from Dr Doute's late in the race.

Kennewell said he didn't weigh down rider Craig Newitt with too many instructions pre-race - but said leading was always one of the main options.

"Through the week we were actually planning to go back," Kennewell said. "We'd been working him from back."

"On the day we just weren't really sure. There didn't appear much speed in the race."

"I told Craig if Believe 'n' Achieve jumped well to just slot in behind her, if she doesn't, go straight to the front."

"I still believe he's going to be a better horse from behind (in the field). But he's still green - still very raw."

"He's always shown us plenty of ability and he's won four of seven now," he added.

Kennewell said Conservatorium would run next in the DC McKay Stakes and if he came through that well and with a positive result he could run in the state's best sprint race - the Group One Goodwood.

"The Don McKay looks a nice race for him," he noted. "But if he didn't make the Goodwood we wouldn't stress - he's only a three-year-old."

Kennewell took a shine to Conservatorium when offered by Emerald Thoroughbred at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and he went to $50,000 to buy him.

The gelding is raced by strong stable client Santo Guagliardo and he's now earned over $116,000 from just seven starts - four of which have been wins.

The 159th individual stakes winner for Royal Academy, Conservatorium is one of two winners produced by the stakes performed Belong to Me mare Belong to Madam.

A third placegetter in the listed Cinderella Stakes in Adelaide at two, Belong to Madam is a half sister to the stakes performer Orchestrated.

Placement Perfect To Break Maiden Status

PlacementAll will be forgiven of Placement should she win Saturday's $350,000 Group One Schweppes Australasian Oaks (2008m) at Morphettville.

Trained by Danny O'Brien, Placement is still a maiden after 14 starts.

However in that time she has been placed eight times and twice in strong fillies company; second in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and third in the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) five days later.

By virtue of those two performances last spring, the daughter of Savabeel is well placed to make amends for those defeats on the weekend.

She will face Auraria Stakes winner Shylight and placegetters from the race Southern Speed and Absolutely.

Five horses have completed the Auraria Stakes - Australasian Oaks double; Miss Clipper (1986), Gatherneaux (1992), La Volta (1998), Episode (1999) and Grand Echezeaux (2000) - since the race was first run in 1982.

Tasmanian galloper Triple Asset continued his excellent form in Adelaide this afternoon by winning the $115,000 Group Three The Jansz (1200m) at Morphettville this afternoon.

Trained by John Keys at Wesley Vale on the outskirts of Devonport, Triple Asset settled outside the leader Win For Wilson and was pushed wide in the straight when Win For Wilson wobbled around the home turn allowing More Awesome up along the rails.

More Awesome joined Triple Asset in the lead but it was only for a brief moment as Triple Asset was slipped more rein by Dwayne Dunn and he kicked clear to win easily on the line.

Triple Asset ($3.20-$3.70-$3.60 fav) defeated Win For Wilson ($6-$7-$4.80) by three lengths with Gone Skiing ($7-$8) a further 1-1/4 lengths away in third.

More Awesome ($8) faded into fourth place with Gonski Girl ($14) running a bold race after racing wide throughout in fifth.

First run in 1986, the Jansz – also known as the National Stakes – has been won by the likes of Super Elegant (2000), Great Is Great (2003), Tonz More Fun (2005), Gabbidon (2007), Majestic Music (2009) and last year’s Group 1 Golden Rose winner Toorak Toff (2010).

Triple Asset has now raced seven times for four wins and three placings with prizemoney beyond the $260,000 mark.

Both placegetters from the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) are in the field with Crystal Lily to be ridden by Stephen Baster and Mark Zahra booked to ride Beaded.

However Crystal Lily is also entered for the William Reid Stakes and is more likely at this stage to run at Moonee Valley this Friday Night.

South Australian RacingThoroughbred Racing SA has advised of two changes to racing schedules for next month.

Last Sunday’s Kimba Cup meeting at Port Lincoln was abandoned.

TRSA have opted to reschedule the $23,000 Kimba Cup (1750m) and the $12,000 Flying Handicap (1200m) from Sunday onto Port Lincoln’s next TAB meeting on April 10.

Consequently the 0-68 Handicap (1750m) has been deleted from the program to make way for the Kimba Cup.

In other news, after a request from the South Australian branch of the Australian Trainers Association, TRSA have changed the distance of the Rating 68+ race scheduled for April 16 at Morphettville.

It has been increased in distance from a mile to 1800 metres.
