KOOMATILLA (K. Gladwin) was fractious in the barrier prior to the start. KANDINSKYA (P. Black) was slow into stride and raced wide at the turn into the straight. KOOMATILLA lay outwards in the straight.

RACE 3: KYARRA GOLDMINES SPRINT – 1200M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner GO BUST (P. Black). Prior to the start MALWOOD (W. White) reared in the barriers, catching his near fore leg over the partition. The Club’s veterinary surgeon examined MALWOOD and passed the gelding fit to race. ALLIED SPIRIT (A Yugovich) was slow into stride. MALWOOD raced wide in the early and middle stages. CENSKY (W. Pike) lay inwards over the final 250m placing its rider at a disadvantage.

RACE 4: CHAFF CITY HANDICAP – 1400M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner RICE (A. Yugovich). MONSERAT MORN was rehandicapped 1 kilogram, to 57 kilograms, for its win in Race 2. SANTANN (R. Quartermain) was slow into stride. KOOMATILLA (K. Gladwin) raced wide from the turn into the straight.

RACE 5: ELDER’S MEEKATHARRA HANDICAP – 1400M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner HEXAPACK (W. Pike). After being unable to be loaded, GARRYOWEN (5/1) was withdrawn by the Stewards at 4.41 p.m. All bets on GARRYOWEN were refunded. Deductions from winning bets were made in accordance with the conditions set out in Betting Rule 19. HEALSVILLE (N. Hopwood) was slow to begin and lay outwards in the straight. DANCING WITH CANS (K. Gladwin) raced wide at the turn into the straight. BACKBURNER (R. Quartermaine) mis-strode over the concluding stages.

THE STRIDING MAN (K. Gladwin) raced wide in the early and middle stages. MALWOOD (A. Yugovich) raced wide at the turn into the straight.

RACE 3: KYARRY GOLDMINES SPRINT 1200M

Mr M. Williams (Snr) reported that a veterinary inspection of PROFUSION on Saturday night revealed the horse to be sore in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr M. Williams (Snr) was advised PROFUSION would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again.

Western Australian jockey Chris Usher has been suspended for six weeks after failing a breathalyser test at last Saturday's Carnarvon race meeting.

News of the test was revealed by the WATC stewards at Wednesday's Belmont Park race meeting.

A report into the incident noted that Usher's test returned results which exceeded the 0.02% level.

Usher had one ride on the Carnarvon Cup day card, finishing fourth in race three aboard Red Adraan.

The senior hoop who is also a familiar face at the Geraldton races, will not be able to return to the saddle until November 3.

RACE 1: WESFARMERS LANDMARK ROY BELLOTTI MEMORIAL MAIDEN – 1200M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner ELLAND ISLE (J. Lemon). BOLD KINGSTON (S. Godden) raced greenly in the early stages and had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. ELLAND ISLE lay inwards over the final 200m, obliging Jockey J. Lemon to stop riding and straighten the mare on two occasions.

RACE 2: WESFARMERS LANDMARK WOOL HANDICAP - 1400M

CRUISING BY (D. Grenfell) slipped at the start, losing ground. Shortly after the start SOARING DREAM (D. Dicks) threw its head in the air and lost its racing position. SWEET SPICE (T. Zanker) raced wide in the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of the poorly performed CRUISING BY revealed the gelding to have returned lame in the near fore. Trainer Mr J. Gibson was advised that CRUISING BY would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

RACE 3: WESFARMERS FEDERATION INSURANCE HANDICAP – 1400M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner FIELDWORKS (G. Lemos). RED ADRAAN (A. Armes) threw its head in the air shortly after the start and then raced wide for the remainder of the race. Approaching the 1250m ALPINE CHARLIE (T. Zanker) was eased from the heels of HURRICAN HALO (D. Torneur). On inquiry it was established that as HURRICAN HALO crossed ALPINE CHARLIE, the gelding had eased momentarily once in front, obliging Apprentice Zanker to ease ALPINE CHARLIE and lose its racing position. FIELDWORKS was held up momentarily for a clear run at the turn into the straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HURRICAN HALO, Jockey D. Torneur could offer no excuses. Trainer Mr T. Brown advised that HURRICAN HALO would now be sent for a spell.

RACE 4: PASTORALISTS & GRAZIERS R.S. BURT MEMORIAL SPRINT – 1200M

RIA FORMOSA (R. McKay) and A DUDE (G. Lemos) bumped at the turn into the straight. KILCORMAC (S. Godden) lay inwards in the straight, obliging Apprentice Godden to stop riding and straighten the mount on several occasions.

RACE 5: WESFARMERS LANDMARK-CARNARVON CUP – 2000M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner INITIAL ARREST (R. McKay). COUNTER STRIKE (G. Cortes) was slow into stride. NIGHT WATCHMAN (J. Miller) stumbled on jumping. Approaching the 1800m, when being steadied, SPEEDY (D. Catarino) got its head in the air. COUNTER STRIKE raced wide over the final 800m. The whip of Jockey G. Lemos (DECIDE) broke near the 100m.

RACE 6: WESFARMERS LANDMARK JOHN HOGUE MEMORIAL HANDICAP – 1600M

CARRY A GUN (G. Lemos) blundered at the start, losing ground. SECRET CAPER (J. Miller) was slow into stride. ASCOT EXPRESS (J. Lemon) raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CARRY A GUN, Jockey Lemos stated that after blundering at the start, he was able to improve CARRY A GUN’s position in the field, however, approaching the 600m he felt the gelding was not comfortable in its action and despite his efforts, CARRY A GUN began to lose ground. A veterinary inspection of CARRY A GUN revealed the gelding’s off hind plate to have shifted. When questioned Trainer Mr K. Mahoney was of the opinion this was the reason for CARRY A GUN’s poor performance today.

RACE 1: VICTORY MAIDEN – 1000M

NACRE MAKER (K. Forrester) broke through the barriers prior to a start and was quickly restrained and took its place in the field. POLLY POLLY DOODLE (C. Itzstein) was slow into stride. JOSHUA’S STAR (W. Arnold) and SISTER JOAN (T. Turner) bumped heavily at the start. THUNDER AND HALO (K. Hawkins) and BLACK MONEY (P. Carbery) bumped on several occasions shortly after the start. RIDE THE EAGLE (D. Randall) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and got its head in the air near the 700m. Passing the 500m EXPRESS THAT SMILE (A. Sansom) rolled inwards crowding BLACK MONEY (P. Carbery) which overreacted when being eased. POLLY POLLY DOODLE, which was following, was inconvenienced. THUNDER AND HALO lay outwards from the 400m. EXPRESS THAT SMILE had a tendency to lay inwards over the concluding stages. Jockey K. Hawkins (THUNDER AND HALO) reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance of EXPRESS THAT SMILE in relation to the mare’s unplaced performance at Northam on 5 September, 2002, Trainer Mr M. Vickers was of the opinion that the mare was unsuited on that occasion by the wide barrier drawn and also in racing in consecutive weeks.

RACE 2: SUPREME MAIDEN – 1250M

GOLDEN PROSPECT (S. McGruddy) and ENDURALOT (J. Noske) were slow into stride. MAGTICK (P. King) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. MONSOON MASTER (A. Sansom) raced keenly in the early and middle stages and lay outwards at the turn into the straight. RAG DOLL SANDY (S. Parnham) raced wide throughout. GOLDEN PROSPECT lay inwards from the turn into the straight, necessitating Jockey S. McGruddy to change his whip to the left hand at the 300m. GOLDEN PROSPECT then had a tendency to lay outwards near the 50m inconveniencing NIGHT WIZARD (N. Chapman). At the 250m MAMBO ITALIANO (Danny Miller), when impeded for a run, shifted outwards brushing IPARRPE (J. Oliver) which in turn steadied off the heels of RAG DOLL SANDY.

RACE 3: AERO MAIDEN – 1250M

BOLD VOLTAGE was withdrawn at 11.15 a.m. acting on Veterinary advice when it was assertained that the gelding sustained lacerations to the fore legs as a result of a float mishap. Trainer Mr R. Sands was advised that BOLD VOLTAGE would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again. LORD OF THE SPRING (P. King) was slow to begin, overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 1000m eased from the heels of MAGIC FLYER (A. Sansom). Passing the 1000m OVERBITE (R. Mills) raced with its head in the air for a short distance. MANI (M. Frethey) was taken outwards across the heels of CHOSEN WINGS (P. Carbery) carrying MAGIC FLYER wider at the turn into the straight. MANI then had a tendency to lay inwards for the remainder of the race. Approaching the 100m CHOSEN WINGS was momentarily tightened as LOOT (D. Staeck) shifted outwards and MANI lay inwards. LOCAL PRODUCT (N. Rudland) bore outwards over the final 50m. A Veterinary inspection of CHOSEN WINGS revealed nothing amiss. Trainer Mr N. Parnham advised that he would report any future abnormalities with CHOSEN WINGS to Stewards.

RACE 4: CEREFORM HANDICAP – 1000M

LOM TRICE was unruly in the mounting enclosure and as a result dislodged Apprentice B. Sheehy. After being examined by the Club’s Medical Officer, Apprentice Sheehy was declared fit to fulfil her riding engagement. LOM TRICE was led riderless to the barriers. Trainer Ms B. Dudley was advised that LOM TRICE would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes. ICE WINE (J. Noske) and CHARGE AND HIRE (J. Shankar) bumped at the start with CHARGE AND HIRE then being carried outwards making contact with MY CHARISMA (A. Sansom). LAY A DOLLAR DOWN (Danny Miller) bore outwards over the final 175m. YEGOROVA (P. King) returned with a superficial laceration to the inside of the near hind.

RACE 5: WESTON MILLING HANDICAP – 1500M

TRIPLE THREAT (Danny Miller) lay outwards passing the 800m. Approaching the 500m METAL DAGGER (S. Parnham) shifted outwards carrying BUSINESS BOOM (K. Forrester) wider, which in turn carried RAPHO (P. Knuckey) out. At the 400m METAL DAGGER shifted outwards bumping the hindquarters of BUSINESS BOOM which became unbalanced and then shortly afterwards shifted inwards bumping METAL DAGGER. BUSINESS BOOM had a tendency to lay inwards passing the 200m.

RACE 6: FERMIPAN HANDICAP – 1250M

MAJESTIC BELLE (D. Randall) shifted outwards at the start bumping HEIR AFFAIR (P. Knuckey) which in turn bumped SIMATRON (L. Camilleri) which lost ground. SIMATRON then raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Passing the 400m MAJESTIC BELLE shifted outwards to obtain a clear run and bumped SIMATRON which shifted inwards. Apprentice L. Camilleri (SIMATRON) then stopped riding and straightened his mount.

RACE 7: BAKERS MART HANDICAP – 2200M

ACE O’CLASS (S. Parnham) bounded at the start. LANAARA’S SON (P. King) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1700m POLVERYZE (K. Hawkins) and HEREDITARY (S. McGruddy) bumped. Passing the 800m POLVERYZE shifted outwards causing ACE O’CLASS to bump with LANAARA’S SON. LANAARA’S SON returned with its tongue over the bit. Trainer Mr B. McDonald advised that it was his intention to fit a tongue tie to LANAARA’S SON for future starts. Trainer Mr B. Graham advised that that the poorly performed WESTERN LIGHTNING (N. Chapman) would now be retired. POLVERYZE returned having cast its near hind plate.

RACE 8: EUREKA HANDICAP – 1600M

SCUETTO (J. Oliver) was slow into stride. ZAA HALO (A. Sansom) raced wide throughout. Passing the 325m SCUETTO and WARRIGAL (P. Knuckey) bumped and approaching the 250m WARRIGAL shifted inwards buffeting with SCUETTO. SUN SOLUTO (S. Parnham) lay inwards over the final 200m.

RACE 1: THE SORCERY (A WELTER) – 2000M

Near the 1400m MILLER’S FANCY (K. Hawkins), when racing keenly, steadied from the heels of BLEVVO (P. Farrell). DYNALIEBE (J. Noske) raced wide from the 800m. OUR ISOSCELES (Danny Miller) returned having cast its off fore plate during running.

RACE 2: THE CUNDERDIN – 1600M

On jumping STELLA BELLISSIMA (B. Sheehy) and BAY IVY (K. Hawkins) bumped. SCENIC CRUISE (S. McGruddy) and MISS ITALIA (P. Farrell) were slow to begin. In the middle stages, when the pace slowed, STELLA BELLISSIMA, NOVERRE (L. Camilleri), GUARDED ANSWER (P. King) and SANDS OF DEE (R. Mills) raced keenly. SCENIC CRUISE made the turn into the straight extremely wide. At the 350m MY HATRAS (N. Chapman) lay outwards and bumped on several occasions with DANCE THE BLUES (K. Forrester). At the 250m BELLNAMI (T. Turner) was disappointed for a run on the outside of GUARDED ANSWER and on the inside of SOUTHERN LOVER (Jason Brown). Over the concluding stages NOVERRE lay outwards inconveniencing SOUTHERN LOVER, which had a tendency to lay inwards. Approaching the 200m ROSE OF OAKFORD (D. Staeck) was blocked behind NOVERRE and after restraining, shifted to the inside to obtain clear running. BUREKUP BAY (J. Noske) returned having cast its near fore plate during running. Jockey W. Arnold (CRIMSON PAK) and Apprentice L. Camilleri (NOVERRE) were both warned and reminded of the policy in relation to pace in races.

RACE 3: THE GOLD PATOIS – 1400M

As the start was effected THURSTON (J. Oliver) got its head in the air and baulked, losing considerable ground. Near the 1200m PINDARRI (S. Parnham) shifted inwards holding KIWI HOMBRE (P. Harvey) tight, which then lay inwards crowding ROYAL OMEN (G. Smith) onto KEY FLYER (J. Noske). Apprentice S. Parnham was shown a film of this incident and warned and advised to exercise more care in future. Approaching the turn into the straight and on straightening KEY FLYER was held up.

RACE 4: THE THORIUM – 1400M

On jumping REQUISITION (P. Harvey) veered inwards as VOLTAGE REIGN (D. Staeck) shifted outwards. TWICE (T. Turner) was impeded in this incident. RHYTHMO (P. Farrell) commenced awkwardly and shortly after the start bumped LOMBO CHOICE (S. Parnham). DANCE SUPREME (P. King) shifted inwards at the start bumping LOMBO CHOICE heavily. DANCE SUPREME raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 1000m was steadied. Near the 700m DANCE SUPREME and REQUISITION (P. Harvey) bumped. Near the 425m DON’T SAY DOLL (W. Hughes) was held up and shortly after this was steadied. Approaching the 400m TWICE was eased and taken wide to obtain a clear run. At the 300m RHYTHMO rolled inwards crowding DON’T SAY DOLL, causing that filly to be restrained. On Inquiry, Apprentice W. Hughes explained that the run on the inside of RHYTHMO was there momentarily and he had anticipated RHYTHMO shifting back to the rail. Consequently he had steadied and endeavoured to come to the outside of RHYTHMO. When questioned Jockey T. Turner (TWICE) explained that prior to a start, the filly had been fractious and had been back on the gates and as a consequence had missed the start slightly and shortly after was inconvenienced. He further explained that it had been his intention to place TWICE in the field rather than in a rearward position.

RACE 5: THE APTOFINE – 1200M

Shortly after the start BAYWOOD (T. Turner) shifted outwards bumping heavily with NOW’S GOOD (Jason Brown) which then struck the hindquarters of LITTLE MISS MADAM (Danny Miller). NOW’S GOOD was then buffeted between LITTLE MISS MADAM and BAYWOOD. Approaching the 900m BAYWOOD struck the running rail dislodging Jockey T. Turner. NOW’S GOOD which was following was severely inconvenienced. On Inquiry it was established that at this stage of the race FAMILY DREAMS (P. Carbery) had steadied when close to the heels of LITTLE MISS MADAM and despite the efforts of Jockey P. Carbery, had got its head in the air, lay inwards bumping heavily with BAYWOOD, which then struck the running rail dislodging Jockey T. Turner. Trainer Mr J. Price was advised that FAMILY DREAMS would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. A Veterinary examination of BAYWOOD revealed a compound fracture to the near shoulder and BAYWOOD was subsequently euthanased. Passing the 700m C’MON BLUEY (D. Staeck) had a tendency to race fiercely getting its head in the air. C’MON BLUEY was held up for a short distance near the 350m. A Medical Officer’s examination of Jockey T. Turner revealed bruising to the ribcage area and consequently Jockey T. Turner was declared unfit to fulfil his remaining rides.

RACE 6: THE EARL JAMES – 2200M

TUART’S PRIDE (P. King) and PEKAN FLYER (D. Staeck) both reared at the start. Approaching the winning post the first time THOMPSON’S BAY (P. Harvey) steadied when KING JUGAH (P. Carbery) shifted inwards. PEKAN FLYER eased in consequence. Approaching the 900m GILL’S DREAM (S. McGruddy) and PEKAN FLYER bumped and raced tightly for a short distance. Approaching the 800m BIG WALLY (W. Hughes) steadied when close to the heels of KING JUGAH. TUARTS PRIDE raced wide for a major part of the race. Approaching the 400m MAROONED PRINCE (D. Randall) was held up behind ICE WARRIOR (A. Sansom) and dipped. SAGE MOON (Jason Brown) and WATERS RISING (J. Noske) were also blocked at this stage of the race. At the turn into the straight JAYANBEE RARE (J. Whiting) when momentarily held up behind GILL’S DREAM, shifted outwards quickly and bumped heavily with TUART’S PRIDE. Jockey J. Whiting was warned and advised to exercise greater care in future. A post race Veterinary examination of JAYANBEE RARE revealed the gelding to have sustained a strained near fore flexor tendon. Trainer Mr M. Clarke was advised that JAYANBEE RARE would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

RACE 7: THE TANIA - 1300M

On jumping MISS PRECISELY (J. Whiting) shifted outwards inconveniencing PLAY THE WHISTLE (P. Carbery). COSSACK ANGEL (K. Hawkins) was slow into stride. Near the 1100m SHE’S A ROSE (S. McGruddy) lay outwards brushing OXIDATION (P. King), which then bumped with HIDE THE HALO (J. Noske) on its outside. Near the 750m TIGNADINA (Jason Brown) struck the heels of NATIONAL SILK (W. Arnold) and blundered. On Inquiry it was established that OXIDATION was racing keenly as NATIONAL SILK had made ground to the outside of TIGNADINA. No blame could be attributed to any one rider, however Stewards advised all riders to exercise more care in future. At the 200m MADAM GUNDA (P. Farrell) shifted outwards causing TIGNADINA to be restrained. On Inquiry Jockey P. Farrell was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) for causing this interference and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 16 days from midnight 22 September, 2002 until midnight 8 October, 2002. A post race Veterinary examination of OXIDATION revealed the mare to have a laceration to the near hind fetlock.

RACE 8: THE BEAU TEMPS – 1600M

Approaching the 1400m KONJO (D. Randall) got its head in the air and raced ungenerously for a distance. At the 425m MIRROR MOON (Jason Brown) mis-strode and raced erratically for a short distance. Approaching the 300m, when struck with the whip, VAMPIRE (S. Parnham) lay inwards impeding KING CANUTE (J. Whiting). Shortly after TOTALLY MAROONED (L. Camilleri) lay outwards further inconveniencing KING CANUTE. Apprentice S. Parnham stopped riding in an attempt to straighten VAMPIRE when that gelding shifted ground. VAMPIRE raced wide throughout. INDIGO KING (P. King) made the turn into the straight wide. In the early part of the straight TOTALLY MAROONED (L. Camilleri) had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

RACE 1: THE HAPPY CLIMAX – 1000M

After arriving on course Trainer Mr M. Vickers advised that FORTUNE SALLY was showing signs of coming into season. ELSIE EUNICE (C. Farrell) was slow into stride and performed poorly throughout. Trainer Mr H. McCloud was instructed to restrict the filly’s immediate racing future to the provincial and country areas. Shortly after the start AMAROO LASS (W. Arnold) shifted outwards bumping ANNAPAK (N. Chapman). NATESA (A. Sansom) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages, wide throughout and lay outwards in the straight, necessitating its rider to stop riding and straighten her mount on several occasions. At the turn into the straight AMAROO LASS lay outwards. Near the 400m GEISHA MELODY (L. Camilleri) and MIDNIGHT MAGIC (T. Turner) bumped. Passing the 275m AMAROO LASS shifted outwards under pressure causing PRICE CONTROL (S. Parnham) to steady. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance of PRICE CONTROL, Apprentice S. Parnham stated that although the mare had raced in a prominent position, PRICE CONTROL was better suited when leading and in his opinion, resented being held tight in the early stages.

RACE 2: THE BUSY RAIDER – 1000M

SHE’S A SKITE (K. Hawkins) threw its head in the air shortly after the start. BARFINE (N. Rudland) and OUR MOONDANCER (P. Harvey) bumped heavily at the start. EXPROPRIATE (P. King) and FAMILY MONEY (T. Turner) bumped at the start. MY ZALETA (J. Noske) dipped shortly after the start. EXPROPRIATE raced fiercely throughout, refusing to settle and near the 850m shifted inwards, away from MASTER KEY (S. Parnham) crowding STARWORLD (A. Sansom) onto SPICE MISS (L. Camilleri). Shortly after this EXPROPRIATE was steadied from the heels of SIR PELLINORE (D. Randall). Trainer Mr F. Castledine was advised to rectify the gelding’s racing manner, otherwise action may be taken against it. Mr Castledine advised that he would consider removing the blinkers and changing the racing bit on EXPROPRIATE for its next start. SHE’S A SKITE raced wide throughout and had a tendency to overrace in the early stages. Passing the 25m SPICE MISS and MAID O’ BLUE (D. Staeck) bumped. A post race veterinary examination of MY ZALETA revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore. Trainer Mr R. Brown was advised that MY ZALETA would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and would also have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

RACE 3: THE GO THE GREY – 2400M

CASH TREASURE (T. Turner) commenced awkwardly, losing ground. Passing the winning post the first time, SONIC BLUE (K. Hawkins) rolled inwards crowding OUTER PATCH (S. McGruddy). NOBLE SHEIKH (S. Parnham) lay inwards over the final 150m.

RACE 4: THE CANDLE CLASSIC – 1300M

GLOBAL GIFT (S. McGruddy) shifted inwards at the start, bumping WOOL ZONE (Jason Brown) which dipped. ROSE OF ABJAR (P. Carbery) commenced awkwardly. KICKENBACK (S. Parnham) was slow into stride. ROSE OF ABJAR raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. UNCLE BRIAN (N. Chapman) commenced to race ungenerously from the 1000m and near the 900m was steadied on several occasions from the heels of MISS BELHUS (L. Camilleri), getting its head in the air. CONSTANTINOPLE (P. Harvey) which was following, was inconvenienced. Approaching the 700m CONSTANTINOPLE was steadied from the heels of UNCLE BRIAN and shifted outwards, bumping M’LADY ROYALE (A. Sansom) on several occasions, causing that filly to race keenly for a short distance. CHUCKA KHAN (J. Oliver) which was following was steadied in consequence, and was taken outwards, inconveniencing KICKENBACK which bumped GLOBAL GIFT. UNCLE BRIAN continued to race ungenerously until the turn into the straight. When questioned regarding the reason UNCLE BRIAN was eased approaching the 1000m to allow MISS BELHUS to cross to the lead, Jockey Chapman stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding in a prominent position and allow it to settle if possible. He further explained that UNCLE BRIAN commenced to race fiercely after being crossed by MISS BELHUS, having to be steadied on numerous occasions. This Inquiry was adjourned until a time and date to be fixed to allow Trainer Mr R. McPherson to be present. GLOBAL GIFT raced wide throughout. At the 300m WOOL ZONE and CONSTANTINOPLE bumped. M’LADY ROYALE lay inwards in the straight. At the 275m JAUNTY LAD (P. King) was eased when WOOL ZONE rolled inwards. Jockey P. Carbery reported that ROSE OF ABJAR hung outwards throughout and felt uncomfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination of ROSE OF ABJAR revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice L. Camilleri (MISS BELHUS) was questioned why the filly led today as compared to previous starts when it had raced back in the field. He stated that he was instructed to position MISS BELHUS off the pace, however, the filly had commenced well from its wide barrier and to avoid being caught wide, he allowed MISS BELHUS to stride forward, thereby leading. Trainer Mr P. Jordan confirmed these instructions and given the circumstances of this race, agreed that Apprentice Camilleri had no other option but to ride MISS BELHUS in a forward position.

RACE 5: THE VAN DONTON – 1600M

MIRA MYSTERY (N. Chapman) commenced awkwardly and shortly after the start threw its head in the air, then raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. PAKASTAR (T. Turner) and THE SAMURI (A. Sansom) bumped at the start. ALMOND CRUSHER (J. Whiting) veered out at the start and then lay outwards in the early stages. Due to the poor performance of FAULTLESS (K. Forrester), Trainer Mr R. Maras was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to start in the metropolitan area until such time as its form improves. LADOS (P. Carbery) pulled hard in the early stages and raced wide from the 600m and was forced further wide

when FORE STAY (L. Camilleri) shifted out. Approaching the 300m FORE STAY and KELDAAN (P. Harvey) bumped. NEAR TO TOD (J. Oliver) lay outwards under pressure from the 250m and when being corrected, approaching the 100m, veered inwards quickly. PAKASTAR had a tendency to lay outwards throughout and returned having burst a mouth abscess.

RACE 6: THE EASTERN ZONE – 1400M

WATERMEAD (K. Forrester) jumped awkwardly, losing ground. Shortly after the start MISS SHONI (D. Staeck) and GOODBYE CHERRY PIE (S. McGruddy) bumped. Approaching the 1000m FAST HANDOVER (D. Randall) commenced to race fiercely and was continually steadied off the heels of MISS SHONI until the 900m. PICTURE SKEW (T. Turner) which was following, was inconvenienced. MAGISSA (N. Chapman) and MISS DOMANI (Jason Brown) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. SYLVIA’S DAUGHTER (S. Parnham) raced wide from the 600m. Passing the 100m XAXELLE (K. Hawkins), when making ground, was taken inwards to obtain a clear run. Trainer Mr R. Sutherland advised that MISS SHONI would now be sent for a spell.

RACE 7: THE GREY METAL – 1400M

POLAR PRINCE (T. Turner) was slow into stride. LONE LOVER (P. Harvey) shifted inwards at the start, crowding IDOL OF KINGS (D. Miller). PARK ‘N’ PARTY (P. King) was held up from the 325m until approaching the 150m. SUMMERVELD (S. McGruddy) was impeded for a short distance passing the 250m.

RACE 8: THE INDIAN RUNNER – 1200M

JOLLY JUDE (D. Randall) bounded on jumping. CREW LEADER (K. Hawkins) and COMEBACK KID (S. McGruddy) bumped at the start. Near the 900m PERMANENT GRIN (T. Turner) steadied from the heels of TIP THE TILL (P. King), getting its head in the air. SPIRIT OF ZAB (C. Itzstein) and CREW LEADER raced wide throughout. MAIS DINERO (A. Sansom) was steadied near the 750m and again shortly after from the heels of PERMANENT GRIN. COMEBACK KID pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Passing the 400m MYSTERY MORN (L. Camilleri) bumped SPIRIT OF ZAB. JOLLY JUDE was held up behind SPIRIT OF ZAB between the 375m and the 300m, and then had difficulty in obtaining a run until the 100m. PERMANENT GRIN was impeded on several occasions in the straight. A post race veterinary examination of CREW LEADER revealed the gelding to be slightly lame in the near fore. Trainer Mr R. Price advised that he would assess the gelding’s condition and advise Stewards of its immediate racing future.

A random breath test taken from Jockey C. Usher prior to him fulfilling his riding engagements, was found to contain alcohol at a concentration in excess of 0.02%. On Inquiry Jockey Usher pleaded guilty to a charge under ARR.81A(1)(a) for providing a breath sample containing alcohol at a concentration in excess of 0.02%. Subsequently Mr Usher’s Jockey’s licence was suspended for a period of six (6) weeks to commence from midnight 21 September until midnight 2 November 2002.

Burnett) raced wide throughout and was impeded for a run in the straight. Shortly after the start INDRIVE (C. Suresh) steadied from the heels of MISS MUNGRUP (R. Hanson) and shifted outwards bumping AT MY PEAK (K. Nowland), which then commenced to over race. Passing the 800m AT MY PEAK was tightened between MISS MUNGRUP and PRINCESS BIRD. Near the 150m INDRIVE brushed the tiring GO LISA GO (N. Hopwood). A post race veterinary examination of PRINCESS BIRD revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore. Trainer Mr N. Dellar was advised that PRINCESS BIRD would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again.

RACE 2: HOOPS PLUMBING HANDICAP - 1300M

WELL ENDOWED (R. Hanson) was fractious in the barriers and pulled hard in the early and middle stages. TWILIGHT COVE (A. Yugovich) was slow into stride.

RACE 3: ROLY INDUSTRIES HANDICAP – 1760M

PEACEFUL OUTCOME (R. Burnett) and MOONIJIN ILLUSION (C. Farrell) were slow into stride. PEACEFUL OUTCOME over raced in the early stages.

Suresh) dipped at the start losing ground. RENEE MAGIC (N. Hopwood) was slow into stride. SERLAMPERT (B. Mathews) over raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 1200m DEBERNALES (K. Nowland) steadied from the heels of SERLAMPERT. On straightening REVEL, which was momentarily held up, steadied from the heels of DEBERNALS. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TRI PARIS, Apprentice C. Farrell stated that the mare stumbled at the start and lay outwards throughout and he was of the opinion the mare may have been sore. A post race veterinary examination of TRI PARIS revealed nothing amiss. Trainer Mr R. Saw was advised that due to the poor performance, TRI PARIS would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. A post race veterinary examination of the poorly performed TACTICAL MOVE (A. Yugovich) revealed nothing amiss. Trainer Mr C. Smith was advised that TACTICAL MOVE would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

FLYING PAGO was slow into stride. Approaching the 125m FLYING PAGO commenced to shift outwards bumping PUGSLEY’S PRIDE which shifted out brushing GRANNY VANN which had commenced to lay inwards. GRANNY VENN then shifted outwards and checked from the heels of TOPDRESSER. On inquiry Jockey A. Yugovich was reprimanded and advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts quicker when they commence to shift ground. TOPDRESSER returned to the enclosure with mild lacerations to both hinds.

RACE 2: TOYO TYRES HANDICAP – 1200M

This race was rescheduled to 1.48 p.m due to the protest hearing. Routine Specimens were taken from the winner EVIL CONGRESS (B. Mathews). WOCKBRO (E. Dredge) was slow into stride. Approaching the 400m ELECTRIC GEIGER (R. Hanson) steadied when tightened on the inside of GEIGER WONDER (A. Ng). Apprentice A. Ng was advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WOCKBRO, Apprentice E. Dredge stated that the gelding was having its first start on the dirt and resented the dirt coming back in its face.

RACE 3: ORICA EXPLOSIVES SPRINT - 1200M

Routine Specimens were taken from the winner PROFUSION (C. Suresh). BLAZING CENTURY (A. Ng) and GOLDEN MONARCH (A. Yugovich) were slow into stride.

RACE 4: MINESITE CATERING HANDICAP – 1300M

TOPDRESSER (B. Mathews) was re-handicapped to 55.0 kgs for winning in race one on the program.

ROBELLINO (A. Yugovich) was slow into stride. When questioned regarding the improved performance of WOCKBRO, Apprentice E. Dredge stated that with the small field and outside barrier she was able to take up a forward position and with the track having been watered the dirt did not affect the gelding. Trainer Mr K. Boase advised that it would be his intention to have the gelding ridden forward in future. Mr Boase further stated that the stable had not supported the gelding in this race.

RACE 6: PROSSER TOYOTA HANDICAP – 1600M

COUNT VIRGO (R. Burnett) was slow into stride and raced wide from the 600m.

RACE 7: SONS OF GWALIA – LEONORA CUP 2100M

A Veterinary inspection of the poorly performed KIPTANUI revealed the horse to have Cardiac Arrhythmia. Trainer Mr P. Roberts was advised that KIPTANUI would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. A Veterinary inspection of PARIS ROSE revealed the mare to be slightly lame in the off fore. Trainer Mr C. Webster was advised that he would not be permitted to start PARIS ROSE in a race for a period of three weeks.

RACE 2: BROWNES SUPA-SHAKE MAIDEN – 1400M

MATTAWARRA (Danny Miller) was slow into stride and raced wide throughout. ALFADON (S. McGruddy) jumped awkwardly. On jumping Jockey P. King became unbalanced when MEGA ROLE shifted outwards and bumped SAILING FREE (C. Itzstein) heavily. LET’S FACE REALITY (D. Staeck) raced greenly in the early stages and lay outwards from the 800m. Passing the 1100m HIGGINS GOLD (Jason Miller) and FORNEW (P. Carbery) raced ungenerously for a short distance. Approaching the 850m ALFADON steadied from the heels of UP THE REVS (D. Randall). Approaching the 400m, when blocked for a clear run, DANAUPAIR (N. Chapman) shifted outwards and buffeted heavily with HIGGINS GOLD for some distance. On Inquiry Jockey N. Chapman was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure he has adequate room before attempting runs in the future. A Veterinary inspection of MEGA ROLE revealed the mare to have a minor abrasion to its off hind bumper.

RACE 3: INGHAM’S MAIDEN – 1250M

DUNDALLY (K. Forrester) and SAN DIEGO BLUES (L. Camilleri) bumped heavily at the start. STAR PIXIE (Danny Miller) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 850m DUNDALLY steadied outwards off the heels of MACHINE AGAIN (P. Harvey). Near the 300m GILLIGAN’S GIRL (J. Whiting) lay outwards momentarily. Shortly after HOSTILE TAKE OVER (P. Carbery) lay inwards considerably bumping GILLIGAN’S GIRL, which in turn shifted inwards bumping heavily with STAR PIXIE, with that mare bumping the hindquarters of NOBLE DASH (D. Staeck). Trainer of HOSTILE TAKE OVER, Mr G. Crispin advised he would place blinkers on the gelding to improve its racing manner. Passing the 275m MACHINE AGAIN lay inwards carrying MISS SCHOLAR (Jason Brown) inwards with that mare bumping SERIOUS SPENDER (C. Itzstein). CLOE’S SPIRIT (P. King) was held up over the final 300m.

RACE 4: CHICKADEE HANDICAP – 2200M

Shortly after the start DAZZLING DANE (Jason Miller) steadied off the heels of MILLINGTON MAN (Danny Miller). Approaching the 800m DAZZLING DANE and ALPINE TROOPER (P. Carbery) bumped. DAZZLING DANE had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight.

RACE 5: MCCAIN’S FRENCH FRIES HANDICAP – 1000M

SECRET THREAD (P. Harvey) and ZABDASH (A. Sansom) bumped heavily at the start. MISS MCGLASHAN (P. King) jumped awkwardly losing ground. Racing onto the course proper, RA’VALEE (R. Burnett) was steadied off the heels of SPLENDID ROYAL (K. Forrester). Passing the 800m PROFANE (N. Chapman) eased off the heels of OVERTAKING (K. Hawkins). DON’T SAY DON’T (C. Itzstein) lay inwards in the straight and near the 100m inconvenienced OVERTAKING. SECRET THREAD was blocked for a clear run over the final 100m.

RENNY RENOIR (D. Randall) was slow into stride and made the 800m turn awkwardly. BLUE NEON (D. Staeck) threw its head shortly after the start and raced ungenerously in the early stages. RACE 7: ALEX BLACKHURST HANDICAP – 1000M

After arriving on course ANY BEAT was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Officer, who found the gelding to be lame in its near fore hoof. Subsequently ANY BEAT was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 12.10 p.m. Trainer Mr G. Durrant was advised ANY BEAT would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again. KEYARBA (Jason Brown) and SOUND MEMORY (N. Chapman) bumped at the start and again shortly after. MR. MUFFET (A. Sansom) raced tightly between KEYARBA and MOOKTA RIDGE (Jason Miller) from the 700m to the 550m. Approaching the 150m KEYARBA and MR. MUFFET bumped. INITIAL VELOCITY (P. Harvey) lay inwards in the straight obliging its rider to use the whip in his left hand and when blocked behind a tiring runner was taken inwards to obtain a clear run. Over the concluding stages ICICLES (W. Hughes) steadied off the heels of SISTER CYNTHIA (D. Staeck). Jockey P. King reported that SOUTHERLY BLEST had a tendency to lay outwards throughout. A Veterinary inspection of CASUAL SMILE (J. Whiting) revealed the gelding to have minor abrasions to its near hind leg.

RACE 8: PETERS CHOC WEDGE HANDICAP – 1250M

TOSSED (P. Carbery) was slow into stride. MR. O’GARTER (A. Sansom) raced wide throughout. BAY DRACO (Jason Miller) lay outwards at the turn into the straight. Passing the 300m SMILE PLEASE (M. Giadresco) shifted outwards causing BUSINESS DAME (S. McGruddy) to be restrained and lose ground. On Inquiry Apprentice M. Giadresco pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding and subsequently had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 19 September, 2002 until midnight 1 October, 2002.

RACE 1: DR JOHNSON (USA) MAIDEN – 1100M

QUASAROCK (S. McGruddy) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. SECRET HALO (P. Farrell) was slow into stride. INDIANA MISS (Danny Miller) was steadied passing the 600m. MAGIC COCKTAIL (W. Hughes) lay outwards on straightening and continued to lay outwards in the straight. ROYAL RESORT (D. Randall) lay outwards over the final 250m. Approaching the 50m QUASAROCK was steadied inwards off the heels of ROYAL RESORT.

RACE 2: RACEBREED-MATRIARCH HANDICAP – 1500M

BRIGHT REVUE (P. Carbery) commenced awkwardly. GOLDEN NUGGET (S. McGruddy) was slow to begin.

RACE 3: RIGHT WING (IRE) MAIDEN – 1300M

MEDIEVAL MISS (S. McGruddy) veered inwards quickly at the start losing ground. Passing the 1250m INNISCORA (W. Arnold) shifted inwards causing FLINTOFF (J. Shankar) to steady. Approaching the 1100m INNISCORA strode onto the heels of FIMISTON FAME (S. Parnham) and when being steadied inconvenienced MEDIEVAL MISS. FIMISTON FAME lay inwards from the 125m. FLINTOFF lay inwards over the final 100m. Near the 75m DEFLECTS (Danny Miller) rolled outwards with MR. RIPLEY (K. Forrester) being steadied outwards off its heels.

RACE 4: EMIRATES AIRLINE HANDICAP – 1900M

LE GUERISSEUR BLEU (Danny Miller) commenced awkwardly. SLIPS (P. Carbery) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. LE GUERISSEUR BLEU had a tendency to over race approaching the 1400m. Passing the 500m TYJAN (S. McGruddy) lay inwards bumping the tiring LE GUERISSEUR BLEU and near the 450m LE GUERISSEUR BLEU was tightened between TYJAN and RAJA BOY (N. Rudland) which rolled out at that point. RAJA BOY and MY GRENADIER (W. Arnold) raced tightly over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: RACEBREED-ROSE OF YORK HANDICAP – 1300M

DON’T SAY DON’T (C. Itzstein) was slow into stride. PRICE OF DESIRE (K. Hawkins) and FROZEN ASSETS (N. Chapman) bumped on jumping. POINT OF NO RETURN (S. McGruddy) raced keenly in the early stages getting its head in the air. FROZEN ASSETS had a tendency to over race near the 700m. Jockey P. Carbery advised that in his opinion SHIRBELLA had been unsuited to racing at the York circuit and had difficulty making the 600m turn. Jockey K. Hawkins reported that PRICE OF DESIRE lay outwards from the 600m.

RACE 6: KENSINGTON HANDICAP – 1100M

NUNCIO (K. Hawkins) and FIMMO’S FANTASY (P. Carbery) threw their heads on jumping with FIMMO'S FANTASY losing ground. NAVEDANO (Danny Miller) and GUN BARREL BLUE (D. Randall) bumped passing the 900m. Approaching the 850m SORCERY MISS (N. Chapman) shifted inwards crowding NAVEDANO, which raced wide throughout. Approaching the 700m, after being crossed by SORCERY MISS, MON DESIR (W. Hughes) commenced to race keenly, having to be steadied off the heels of SORCERY MISS. When questioned Jockey Danny Miller was unable to explain the disappointing performance of NAVEDANO. Trainer Mr V. Brockman advised that he would be recommending to the owner that NAVEDANO be spelled.

RACE 7: POLIUTO (IRE) HANDICAP – 1900M

TRIBU FLYER (K. Hawkins) stumbled at the start and shifted outwards bumping BLACK BOOTS (N. Rudland). REVNAY (D. Randall) was slow to begin. When questioned on his riding tactics, in particular his reasons for going forward from the 1300m, Apprentice D. Randall advised that he had been instructed to anticipate REVNAY being slow to begin, then regain touch with the field until entering the back straight, when he was advised to commence his run. Trainer Mr A. Broder confirmed the instructions issued. Apprentice Randall advised that REVNAY lay outwards on both turns and had commenced to give ground from the 600m. Mr Broder was also of the opinion that REVNAY had failed to handle the York circuit and that the gelding had returned with self inflicted minor lacerations to both hinds. He advised that REVNAY would not start at York again and would race over longer distances in future starts. Mr Broder was advised to allow some discretion to riders when issuing riding instructions in future. Apprentice D. Randall was advised to modify his riding to suit circumstances not covered by instructions issued.

RACE 8: FESTIVAL HALL (IRE) HANDICAP – 1500M

Jockey P. Farrell was declared unfit by the Club’s Medical Officer and was unable to ride BONQUEST. As no other riders were available Stewards gave Jockey C. Itzstein permission to carry 1.0kg overweight. MAROONA (S. Parnham) threw its head on jumping, losing ground. MEDIC’S REFLECTION (W. Hughes) commenced awkwardly. Approaching the 1300m MEDIC’S REFLECTION, when racing between MAGINOT (N. Rudland) and BEAURECLAIR (S. McGruddy) was tightened for room and lost ground. On Inquiry it was established that racing onto the course proper, racing had become tight for some distance as WINTRY WIND (N. Chapman) and VIGOROUS BID (K. Hawkins) rolled inwards causing BEAURECLAIR to shift inwards marginally. Stewards were unable to apportion blame for this incident, however reminded both Jockeys K. Hawkins and N. Chapman to exercise care when their mounts were shifting ground. At the turn into the straight MAGINOT rolled outwards carrying WINTRY WIND and VIGOROUS BID wide, with VIGOROUS BID bumping heavily with MAROONA. DESERT ISLAND (D. Randall) lay outwards in the straight. BEAURECLAIR returned having cast the off hind plate. MAGINOT returned with a laceration to the off fore. Trainer Mr M. Miller was advised that MAGINOT would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again.

RACE 1: THE PARIS – 1200M

GOLD ASSET (S. McGruddy) was incorrectly semaphored by the judge as fifth placegetter. Upon realisation of this error and prior to correct weight, placings were amended declaring HAULPAK STAR (Jason Brown) as fifth placegetter. BROADCASTING (J. Whiting) was unruly behind the barriers, then reared and fell. A subsequent Veterinary examination of BROADCASTING revealed no abnormalities and the gelding was passed fit to start. Trainer Mr T. Andrews was advised to rectify BROADCASTING’s behaviour. GOLD ASSET jumped awkwardly. CASTLEGAR (C. Itzstein) was slow into stride and raced uncompetitively throughout. A post race veterinary examination of CASTLEGAR revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr G. Nicol was advised that CASTLEGAR would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. DANGER HAND (L. Camilleri) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. RAZOR POINT (N. Chapman) lay inwards over the final 275M.

RACE 2: THE LISBON – 1200M

JENNY’S GOLD (C. Itzstein) dwelt at the start losing several lengths. At the start FLUTIQUE (D. Randall) shifted inwards bumping CONDITION (P. Harvey) heavily which then cannoned into PRICE TO SCORN (W. Arnold), causing that filly to lose ground. Approaching the 1000m BO BLEST (Danny Miller) shifted inwards causing KEYS TO HEAVEN (S. McGruddy) to restrain and bump MISS BELHUS (W. Hughes) heavily, with that filly colliding with PRICE TO SCORN which struck the running rail, becoming severely unbalanced. In this incident both MISS BELHUS and PRICE TO SCORN lost considerable ground. BO BLEST then raced ungenerously. On Inquiry it was established that STARFIELD (Jason Brown) lost some ground approaching the 1000m causing BO BLEST to steady, with that filly getting its head in the air, and despite the efforts of its rider, veered inwards sharply, resulting in the above interference. Due to BO BLEST’s racing manner, Trainer Mr M. Seinor was advised that the filly would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. Mr Seinor was instructed to continue to engage a senior rider for the filly in future starts. Mr Seinor advised that BO BLEST returned with abrasions to both hind legs. FLUTIQUE lay outwards at the turn into the straight. MISS BELHUS lay inwards over the final 100m. Due to the poor performance of JENNY’S GOLD, Trainer Mr G. Nicols was advised that the filly would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

RACE 3: THE CANBERRA – 1000M

COPERNICUS (K. Hawkins) dipped on jumping. ACADEMUS (L. Camilleri) was slow into stride. PLACID PARK (D. Randall) threw its head in the air on jumping. ERIN PAK (J. Oliver) got its head in the air shortly after the start. COPERNICUS returned sore in the near fore and having cast its near fore plate during running. Trainer Ms J. Simmonds was advised that COPERNICUS would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing again.

RACE 4: THE LONDON – 1000M

GHOST TRAIN (W. Arnold) was slow into stride. ROCK ‘N’ RUBY (P. Harvey) shifted inwards at the start crowding LUXURY LINER (L. Camilleri) onto BELLE’S WISH (Jason Brown). TILT THE GLASS (G. Smith) raced wide throughout. Near the 275m LUXURY LINER was held up and shortly after was steadied and taken outwards across the heels of JESTERVILLE (P. Black) to obtain a clear run. BELLE’S WISH lay in over the final 100m and passing the 50m bumped MISS RIDDLES (J. Whiting).

RACE 5: THE ROME – 2100M

ROCK KICKER (Jason Miller) raced ungenerously in the early stages with its head in the air. Near the 1700m WESTERN LIGHTNING (C. Dredge) steadied from ROCK KICKER and shifted outwards causing NOBLE SHEIKH (S. Parnham) to race wide. MAGINOT (W. Hughes) which was following was inconvenienced. WESTERN LIGHTNING then commenced to race keenly and approaching the 1600m shifted in crowding JUDONIA (Jason Brown) onto TONES OF BLUE (J. Whiting) which was restrained. TONES OF BLUE lay inwards in the straight. TRIBU STAR (N. Chapman) was held up from the turn into the straight until approaching the 200m and shortly after this was impeded until passing the 150m when DESERT TROOPER (W. Arnold) rolled in. Jockey W. Arnold (DESERT TROOPER) was told to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight. WESTERN LIGHTNING cast its near hind plate during running.

RACE 6: THE WELLINGTON – 1200M

AKRAM WARRIOR (J. Whiting) suffered minor abrasions to its near hind en route to the track and following a veterinary examination was passed fit to start. At the start PIENODZE (P. Harvey) commenced awkwardly. THE BUSINESS END (R. Burnett) when being steadied shortly after the start got its head in the air, becoming unbalanced. PHILOCTETES (P. King) got its head in the air shortly after the start and then raced ungenerously and wide throughout. Passing the 1100m PIENODZE shifted outwards bumping WESTERN MISSION (Jason Brown) causing that gelding to steady from the heels of SCRAP METAL (C. Itzstein) and lose ground. Near the 450m PHILOCTETES and WESTERN MISSION bumped. Approaching the turn into the straight PIENODZE was held up for a short distance. At the 400m THE BUSINESS END was steadied when MEDICO shifted in slightly. Near the 350m THE BUSINESS END was blocked and passing the 300m was steadied and taken inwards across the heels of SEATTLE FLING (J. Shankar). Shortly after this SEATTLE FLING shifted inwards tightening THE BUSINESS END which was steadied and taken inwards, buffeting MEDICO (P. Carbery). On Inquiry Apprentice J. Shankar (SEATTLE FLING) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear.

RACE 7: THE WASHINGTON – 1300M

SHARE MY MAGIC (D. Staeck) dipped at the start and shifted inwards bumping MIRA MYSTERY (C. Dredge) heavily. GLEN WILLOW (J. Whiting) was tightened shortly after the start and lost ground when WINORA (W. Hughes) shifted outwards. At the 900m WINORA steadied from the heels of COMMUNIQUE (P. King). ISLAND VIEW (P. Carbery) raced greenly throughout. SHARE MY MAGIC raced wide throughout. WINORA was impeded at the 450m. MASCARA (B. Sheehy) had a tendency to lay inwards over the final 150m.

RACE 8: THE TOKYA – 1400M

PROTOPLASM (P. King) was slow into stride. KOMPARTI BAYLO (B. Mathieson) shifted in at the start, bumping COVE STAR (S. McGruddy) onto DESERT SUCCESS (S. Gates). Passing the 1300m SHOTGUN KID (S. Parnham) shifted inwards causing GOLD BUDGET (W. Hughes) to be taken in, bumping MAJOR ACT (Jason Brown). HIGGIN’S SPECIAL (J. Whiting) raced wide throughout. NATIVE REGENT (P. Harvey) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Near the 1000m DESERT SUCCESS when racing keenly, was steadied from the heels of KOMPARTI BAYLO. COVE STAR and HIGGIN’S SPECIAL bumped near the 700m and again near the 550m. NATIVE REGENT was held up between the 500m and the 400m.
